Guardian Apologizes For Buhari's 'London' Photo
The Guardian issued a public apology regarding the photo of Muhammadu Buhari which was provided as the one allegedly taken in London.
The trip of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate to the UK was associated with numerous controversies. Some alleged that the opposition was lying about the real purposes of Buhar’s trip abroad.
Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose stated that the former military Head of State was not interviewed in London. He proved his point that the photos purportedly taken in London were made in Abuja.
The governor insisted the photo was doctored by the APC to deceive Nigerians.
What was claimed to be a purposeful lie, turned out a mistake made by The Guardian. The Nigerian Bulletin shares the apology made by the media house:
“Our error
The front page picture of yesterday in The Guardian on Sunday was not taken during the visit of Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) to London as wer erroneously stated.
The picture was actually taken in an Abuja hotel when he was being interviewed by a journalist.
The error is regretted.”
