COURT ARRAIGNS SYNAGOGUE ENGINEERS OVER DEATH OF 116 PEOPLE

Trustees of the Synagogue Church of all Nation (SCOAN) and two engineers along with their companies were arraigned before a Lagos High Court, following the death of 116 persons after six-storey guest house owned by church collapsed on September 12, 2014, PM News reports.

The court had in February, dismissed the two separate applications filed by the two engineers, who constructed the collapsed six-storey guest house, seeking to stop their prosecution.
Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo ordered their arraignment after dismissing the application filed by two of the defendants
Since the Lagos State Government filed the 111 charges, the defendants had deployed several means to stall their arraignment by filing several applications, but to no avail.
The 111 count charges brought against the defendants borders on criminal negligence, manslaughter and failure to obtain building permit.
As at the time of filing this report, the 111 count charge is still been read to the defendants.
