Unknown Assassins Murder Iyaloja Of Ijebuland
Pandemonium struck Thursday morning when news broke out that iyaloja general of Ijebuland, Mrs Alimot Shadia Kareem Owogold, a.k.a Mama Elewuju, 82, was assassinated.
The woman was alleged to have been murdered by unknown hired assassins at her residence at the Government Estate, Sabo-Molode, Itanrin road, Ijebu Ode.
It was gathered that the assailants were six in numbered and they stormed her residence around few minutes past three in the afternoon, struck her on the head with a matchet and left her in a pool of blood.
Residents around her neighbourhood got wind of the incident later in the day when they could not see her or hear anything from her, which was not her character.
She was said to be rushed to OSUTH, Sagamu where she was hurriedly attended to and head was stitched before taken her to the General hospital, Ikeja, Lagos where she later passed on.
Her remain was returned to Ijebu Ode last night and will be buried according to the Islamic rite later today.
Mama Elewuju as fondly called was a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and believed to be a strong and ardent supporter of the APC Ogun East senatorial candidate, Dapo Abiodun.
The sad death of Mama Elewuju comes hours after the wife of a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers state was also murdered.
