I Knelt And Begged Tinubu To Forgive Me - Amaechi
Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has revealed that he knelt and begged the national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on the need to settle their disagreement they had during the elections.
The governor disclosed this during his book launch “Dynamics of Change: The Amaechi Years” on Thursday.
Amaechi said feared he would be jailed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if Muhammadu Buhari had lost the March 28 presidential election.
“I knew I was going to be in trouble, anything that would cause that change not to take place, I was ready to make that sacrifice. One day Asiwaju got angry with me, he was very angry, i went to his house with El-Rufai, i went to his house and knelt down saying please let’s not disagree, lets win first and then we can disagree”, he stated.
Amechi described his and his co-travellers political triumph over the PDP as a “civilian coup”, which Tinubu had helped to bring about.
This comes after an earlier report that acclaimed Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka revealed he was told to warn the Rivers state governor before the 2015 general elections.
Meanwhile the poilitical war between President Goodluck Jonathan’s and Rotimi Amaechi may have finally ended.
