Oba Akiolu Stipulates Mode Of Conduct For Non-indigenes In Lagos
The Oba of Lagos, Riliwanu Akiolu, has cautioned non- indigenes residing in Lagos state to confirm to certain modes of conducts as expected by their hosts.

The monarch said this in an exclusive interview with Punch while dismissing insinuations that he had ill feelings towards Igbos in the state.
The Oba who described the people of Lagos as the friendliest and most accommodating people in Nigeria said there is a need for non-indigenes in Lagos to respect the tradition and culture of their host.
Regarding the purported threats he issued to Igbos in the weeks leading to the Lagos gubernatorial election if they did not vote for Akinwunmi Ambode of the All Progressives Congress, Oba Akiolu said some persons had exaggerated the issue.
He said: “Those who orchestrated the entire incident know themselves and I tell you, those (Igbo leaders) who came here on that day understand me a lot and have even been coming since then.”
Explaining his cordial relationship with the Igbos, he said: “Eze Odimegwu, who is a former CEO of Nigerian Breweries, is still my best friend as well as many others. The Obi of Onitsha came to visit me here a few days ago. When you go to a place, you have to respect the host leaders, particularly the traditional leaders there because you are coming to benefit from their success.”
He urged all Igbos who won elections in Lagos State not to disappoint the people.
The monarch also expressed confidence that the APC governor – elect, Akinwunmi Ambode, will perform excellently well in office.
He pointed to Ambode’s ingenuity which he said saved the state from financial hardship when it was deprived of funds from the Federal Government, as indicators to his experience.
Meanwhile, some roads in Lagos were shut on Saturday, May 9 for the 2015 Lagos Carnival. Several dignitaries and Lagosians were treated to a nice display of creative costumes and entertaining dances during the event.
